|About the MAFP|
Representing more than 3,100 family physicians, family medicine residents and medical students, the MAFP is the largest medical specialty organization in Minnesota.
MAFP is a state chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), one of the largest national medical organizations in the United States, with more than 124,900 members. When a person joins the MAFP, they automatically become a member at three levels: national (AAFP), state (MAFP), and the local chapter depending on geographic location.
The MAFP promotes the specialty of family medicine in Minnesota and supports family physicians as they provide high quality, comprehensive and continuous medical care for patients of all ages.
The MAFP is comprised of eleven local chapters throughout Minnesota, each with its own officers. Members in those chapters elect representatives to serve in the House of Delegates, which meets annually, and on the Board of Directors, which meets quarterly. These are the policy-making bodies and MAFP leadership. Delegates and directors are also elected to represent medical students and residents.
